The United States Mixed Martial Arts Kick International Federation (UMMAF) is extremely proud to welcome Mr. Chris Connor to our organization as the North Carolina State Representative to provide guidance in regards to UMMAF throughout the state and to be a voice to represent NC athletes, coaches and officials on the National level. Chris brings a great deal of experience on board UMMAF as he was a former competitor, remains actively involved within various roles and has coached some great athletes in his tenure within the sport.
Chris began his path in wrestling at a young age and progressed through multiple accomplishments including:
-Missouri State High School State Champion
-NWCA National Runner Up
-Amsterdam Cup Champion
-3x Team Missouri Junior National Team Member
-3x Missouri State Greco-Roman/Freestyle Champion
-US nationals (8th Place)
-Northeast Regional Champion
-University Nationals (7th Place)
-All Marine Wrestling Team Member
-World team trials (5th place)
-Formerly Ranked 6th in Nation (Senior Level Greco-Roman)
-Marine Corps Base Hawaii Wrestling Coach (1999-2001)
-Team Hawaii Junior National Coach (2000-2001)
-Combat Club Head Wrestling and MMA Coach (2012-2015)
-Currently Wrestling Coach at Warriors Den Martial Arts
In addition to his career as a Marine (now retired) Chris progressed into a career within Mixed Martial Arts in several capacities including competitor as an Amateur and Professional. He has also been a coach for over 45+ fighters including several former champions. His current roles within MMA are managing athletes and matchmaking with one of the premier NC organizations- Next Level Fight Club. Chris strives to ensure athlete match-ups are done as fairly as possible, to ensure proper safety of athletes and quality of the event for the organizations he works with. Being a retired Marine, his leadership, character and integrity are well suited to support our growing mission with UMMAF.
The UMMAF team is thankful to have Chris on board to help support and raise recognition for UMMAF throughout NC, for the benefit of local athletes and promotions. UMMAF is a registered 501(c)3 not for profit organization sponsoring a host of programs dedicated to amateur martial arts. The organization was formulated exclusively for the establishment and development of general practices within amateur Mixed Martial Arts in the USA as the official governing body for MMA in the USA representing the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF). IMMAF is the only World governing body of MMA internationally acknowledged to develop the sport of MMA as a developing Olympic sport. The UMMAF is the only organization established, audited and approved by the IMMAF, to develop MMA athletes in the United States for recognition on the World stage in critically important National and International events which will qualify the sport for inclusion in the Sport Accord, which is the next step to Olympic recognition.
